The Little Things

Nothing is free.  You must work in one way or another to achieve everything you have, everything you need and everything you want.

Remember, even the greatest player in the world was cut from his high school team.  He was great but he worked for it, earned it and was rewarded for it.  Are you willing to work for what you’re after?

If you don’t get what you’re after do you make excuses or do you work that much harder to get it next time?  Do you cave under pressure and convince yourself you didn’t need it after all or are you willing to do everything in your power to try one more time to reach your goal?

Everyday I see people work harder than they ever have before.  I see people dripping sweat and sometimes blood in pursuit of elite fitness, health and satisfaction.  I have seen people on the verge of tears and on a couple of occasions loose all control and completely break down.  But rarely do I see someone quit.

I admire your ethic, your desire and your heart and I appreciate your willingness to allow me to coach you through your workouts.

Not Only Addicting…Contagious!

Yet another happy group of SPARKers.

A liitle out-of-sorts, REALLY SWEATY and really tired but loving every minute!

Well, maybe not so much during the workout…but you can’t help but feel a huge sense of accomplishment after finishing the challenge on that dang whiteboard.

Beware the “Easy WOD”

Isn’t it funny that the most “simple” of movements and seemingly “easy” WODs can be so devastating?

A lot of people don’t realize that hard work is just that…hard work!  And in order to get results, you have to work hard.  REALLY HARD!  We don’t offer free rides nor do we claim to provide them.  Its simple, we go hard, we go fast and we get results.

Sometimes we go that extra mile to push ourselves and we get a visit from “Pukie” which is not necessarily a bad thing - as long as you know your limits.  Konrad may have been feeling her gentle finger easing down his throat (don’t laugh too hard…we’ve all been there) but he still left with a smile on his face and his name signed up for his next session!

Girls go to the gym…HOT WOMEN DO CROSSFIT!

I get asked all the time if this is appropriate for women.  Weird.  Of course it is!  And no, you won’t get all “husky” and “man-ish” from doing real exercises like we do here at SPARK.

You can accomplish all your health and fitness goals at SPARK whatever they may be AND YOU WILL DO IT IN LESS TIME!!!  Your workouts will be shorter yet more effective and will yield maximum RESULTS.

You will feel better, younger, fitter and stronger than you have ever been before.  Of course you will also look better - lets be honest…who doesn’t want that!

Welcome to the Machine

At SPARK you will do CrossFit and you will tax your body in more ways than you ever imagined.

You will run, jump, lift, throw and sweat.  You will do what your body was made to do - move and work…the only machine we use is YOU!

Welcome to Eric, Jessica and Diana - a few newbs.  We can’t be that bad with smiles that big…maybe you need to work harder next time! (Just kidding)

Thank you for giving your all.  You guys did great.

Rooster Crew

Everytime you come to SPARK you will leave physically spent and emotionally high.  Here are some of our 6 am (Rooster) crew right after the WOD (Workout of the Day) and everyone is still smiling.  You can’t help but be happy once you’ve finished one of our workouts.  Great work today guys!

Excuses Anyone?

Watch the video below.  I am sure you will laugh-out-loud listening to some of Matt Scott’s  ”excuses”.  You will hear some of your own, some of your friends/co-workers/partners etc.  but in the end you will be reminded that they ARE excuses and not actual reasons.

Remember, the only person keeping you from your workout is you!

Don’t spit in that cop’s burger…

I love the fact that we have such a great community here at SPARK.  I’m sure you’ve all heard me say “The SPARK world is a small one” many times before.

Friends come to meet and work out, friends are made during the workouts and everyone supports each other as we reach our physical, mental and emotional limits.  Thank you for encouraging one another!

The fun part about all of this is the comfort levels between participants.  People are quick to throw each other under the bus - in good humor of course - to lighten up the class and ease the tension experienced during the warm up while the Workout of the Day is being dissected.

One of our participants seen in the video below definately experienced the bus’s tires roll over him yesterday…

Hard at Work

It never ceases to amaze me how hard our participants work.

At first glance they may not appear to be at the same intensity, load or  volume and its true…they aren’t.  However, everything is relative.  Everyone does the same workout and although what one person does may be a walk in the park for a different participant, it is kicking the crap out of that person.

I applaud EVERYONE’S effort and the commitment each individual has made to themselves to better their life and improve their health and fitness.  Keep it up guys!

NOTE: MONDAY IS A HOLIDAY AND WE WILL ONLY BE OPEN FOR SESSIONS AT 9, 10 AND 11AM.

And the New Site is Born…

I am so glad to finally have this amazing site up and running.  Its been a long time coming but it is well worth the wait.

Visitors to the site can now see real action shots of workouts and get a better picture of what we do here.  More importantly, they can see that REAL AND REGULAR PEOPLE (in addition to professional and amateur athletes) are members here at SPARK and that it is possible for anyone to achieve their fitness goals inside our walls…as long as they are willing to put in the work and are ready to change their lives.

And yes, by making the decision to “work out” at SPARK, you will change your life.

I want to publicly thank Chris Sealy and his talented team at Statusfirm for the work they did on this site and video - especially Ella, Taylor, Jeff, Sarah, Mojo, Keith and Heather and anyone else that helped pull it all together.  You guys are amazing and I am honored to have worked with you at SPARK and to see first hand the results that occur with some hard work and proper direction.

Yes, everyone has this much fun at SPARK and you can too!

Kim knows a lot about the body - how it works, how to push it and how to get the most out of it. He has worked with professional athletes and knows what it takes to be successful at that level. If you want to be faster, stronger and more powerful go to SPARK."
