February 21, 2011 - Flexibility, Stability and Mobility
Huh? Find out how to ease those aches, pains and knots. What are they, why are they there and most importantly, HOW DO I GET RID OF THEM???Â
This session will teach you how to free up your tight spots, strengthen the little muscles you never knew you had and start you down the path to moving freely. Kim Layton (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Certified Athletic Therapist and Certified Athletic Trainer) explains the ins and outs of your muscles, joints and connective tissues and how to make them ‘young’ again.
I’m not going to lie, this evening is going to hurt. You will groan, you will wince and you will love every second of it! We have limited mats so by all means bring one if you have it. And don’t forget to dress for the occasion - make no mistake, you will be moving as this is listening and a lot of practicing.
MARCH 12, 2011 - Rowing Clinic
Stew Wylie (more on him as we learn more) is a former Collegiate Rower and current athlete / competitor for the Edmonton Rowing Club. He lives on his C2 and is one bad-ass Scottsman. He laughs in the face of the dreaded 5km row and has smoked his distance before most of you have stopped complaining about rowing in the first place.
I mean lets face it people…you probably suck at rowing. So lets fix it. Spend some time and learn proper technique - not just in the pull, catch and recovery but how the damper works, which setting is best in each situation and HOW to actually row for short and long distance. Trust me, there is way more to rowing then just pulling the stupid handle.
Stew tells me this will be a lot of hands on so come dressed appropriately and bring some water and maybe even a towel…you’re going to need it!
